Re: change a key in vista

Thanks, for appreciation.
Changing Key in Vista is much much easier then changing key in XP.
::::
  1. Click on the Start Button and key in command prompt so that it shows up on your start menu search list. Right click on the Command Prompt shortcut and select Run As Administrator.
  2. At the administrator command prompt, type in "slmgr.vbs -ipk <insert your product key here>"
  3. To activate windows after changing the key, run "slmgr.vbs -ato"

Re: change a key in vista

When I try to do step 2, there is a pop up which ask to insert a key.
Any new key that I type ignored as an illegal.

Re: change a key in vista

You should enter the right original key, you cannot change an OEM Version key to a retail version. You should check compatibility.
