| Internet Explorer 7+, the IE Version Included in Vista Because the name “The version of IE7 in Vista” doesn’t roll off the tongue that easily, Microsoft thought that the Internet Explorer version included in Vista would look good with a new name. The Redmond company announced on the browser’s blog that the IE7 version for Vista will be called „Internet Explorer 7+”, the long version, or „IE7+”, the short version. Microsoft says there won’t be any difference between the Internet Explorer 7 version for Vista and the one for Windows XP. The only exceptions will be Protected Mode, Parental Controls, and an improved Network Diagnostics. These depend on Vista’s structure and don’t exist for the Windows XP version. Judging from the comments posted on the IE7 blog, it seems that users didn’t enjoy the idea too much. There are only a few positive comments and the rest are all criticisms. Here’s a few of them. “Are you serious? This is nuts, you will cause more confusion with this, than leaving it as IE7,” one user writes. „Did you eat too many donuts? Because it is a VERY BAD idea to introduce another name into IE7... Leave it as IE7 and you will not confuse customers,” another one says. The beta 2 version of Windows Vista was announced at WinHEC together with Office 2007 beta 2 and Windows Server Longhorn Beta 2 by Bill Gates, Microsoft’s Chairman and Chief Software Architect. Internet Explorer 7 beta 2 has been certified by Softpedia as being 100% FREE and is available for download here.
