| Java Stocks After Oracle Buy-Out?
I own some stocks in Java (JAVA), and I'm curious what happens to them now that Oracle (ORCL) has bought out Sun Microsystems. Online for my stock trading account, it says I currently cannot sell my Java stocks. What happens to my stocks now? Do they switch to Oracle stocks (10 JAVA -> 10 Oracle)? Are they used to buy Oracle stocks (10 Java -> 5 Oracle or so)? Something else happens? Just curious.I'm not too knowledgeable about the whole process and only dabble a bit in stocks, so these types of details I have not learned yet.

I am in the same situation as you with Sun microsystems JAVA. I don't know for sure, BUT from past experience when I had stocks of a company that was purchased by another:When companies agree on a buy/sell price, this amount is divided by the amount of shares the company issued and then you have the value per share the purchaser has paid. Or vice verse they agree on a price per share the purchaser will pay and then (PPS) x (issued shares) = total. So what happened to me with a different stock, the company was bought for amount Y per share, and I had Z shares, the minute the company was sold my stocks were automatically "sold" as well and so I had (Y) x (Z) = cash.Maybe this one is different.
