backup and restore registration

You missed the main and mst important part!
Did you change your Hard Drive Volume Serial number? before re-storing the backed up activation?

If not please do that and then find out .
Let me know the end result!

I don't see how to do this.

The what’s new info for 1.70 Beta even says: · While Restoring Activation You can change your Volume Serial number to the one which is Backed up and Present as activated Volume Serial number!

I don’t see how to make this change during or “While” using the Restore Activation function.

Re: backup and restore registration

ok:
Let me explain this to you.

When you start WinKeyFinder, In the main menu bottom you will see a option with your Volume serial number of your Drive, for C:, by default.
If you have installed windows xp on any other drive just put that drive letter say like D: and click on get volume number copy that volume number along with The activation backup.

Save it in a good location.

Now when you want to restore the backup:

Before you restore there is another tool along with winkeyfinder to change volume serial number, start that tool and change it to the one which was saved along with activation backup,.

After successfull change, you need to start winkeyfinder and restore the activation.
Then restart your computer.
This way your activation will be restored, also while restoring your actication donot forget to copy the date of your backup of activation and time,
Just change the date and time during the restoration,.
and restart your computer and it will work,..
TESTED on my Computer.

Regards..
Hope this helps you and makes you understand how to do it.

Re: backup and restore registration

I have the same problem and can't restore. I first change the drive serial number, then restore the backup and it doesn't work at all.

For the restore to work we have to restore in the same backup machine or can be another pc?

Re: backup and restore registration

same pc, another pc wont work since backup contains the hardware details, cpu, mther board and all other details, hence this will not work on other machine..
Why do I need to Change my serial number?
It has been mentioned clearly many times, If you have a activation which is backedup along with volume serial number and you format the drive and want to reactivate without have to call BigBoss, You can just place your backup but before that you have to change volume serial number to previuos one, since every installation creates a new serail number also the date of activation taken.
Regards.

Re: backup and restore registration

what you mean by same date? I have to change the clock and date to the exact moment of the backup? Just the date?

If i fail to do the steps in that exact order can i start again without format again if the restore fails?

Re: backup and restore registration

The number saved by Winkeyfinder is: 2000-FFFFC0F1

I can't enter this into Volume serial number changer. It says: Please enter a valid 8 digit hex number!

???

I tried just FFFFC0F1 and it still wants me to activate windows.
