Thanks for Support

I have Windows 98 cd that I've had "forever". Someone gave me an old computer to play with that has Win98 on it, but I think she may have picked up a virus cuz it acts funny. I was going to format and install the Win98 I have but I've lost the key. How do I get the product key off the cd or can I use the product key I find on the computer?
Thanks!

product key off cd

hmm!
Since Microsoft No longer provides support for windows 98!
You cannot call them and ask for a lost product key!
The CD key is not stored in the CD Disc. Only a program which is based on a algorithm calcuates and gives you the result whether the key which you entered is right or wrong!
It is upto you to decide whether to use the CD key present in your Installed version of win98!
Hope this answered your question!

RE: product key off cd

So what you are saying is I can try to use the product key off the computer and if it doesn't work I'm pretty much screwed and can throw the disk away. Did I sum it up right?

RE: product key off cd

Where is your brain?
Do you know anything about installation or uninstallation of windows?
Nothing will screwup anything if you are a professional in windows installation!
or atleast know how to install windows, not installing windows 98? even a small kid can do?
If you have a legal product key for 98 it will work why will it not work?
Gimme few reasons?
