| Product key never input I recently purchased a used laptop and office 2003 sp was installed by the previous owner, unfortunately the product key was never put in to the software after installation. Can winkeyfinder find the product key? If so how? I tried to use the software and it keeps giving up. I tried to find my GUI-ID however following the prescribed process failed and i was not able to find a GUI folder where the FAQ said it would be. Can you help me? |

| Re: Product key never input Hello, I tried to start a new thread, but I'm on dial-up and the page comes up blank ... I am trying to get the Office 2000 Service Pack 2 key. WinKeyLite hasn't come up with it yet. I checked the registry and the Product ID is 50083-026-0514542-02875. This was in HKLM\SW\MS\Ofc\9.0\Registration\Product ID. The DigitalProductID in the Registration folder has an empty Reg_sz value. So help! Can we do anything with this? I pasted that ID into Winkeyfinder 1.70 beta (and earlier versions too) and it keeps 'giving up.' Thank you! Chuck |

| Re: Product key never input Actually Your DigitalProductID should not be empty if its empty Winkeyfinder, or officekeyfinder or for that matter winkeylite cant fetch the key that is the plce from where it decodes the key, I'm still in the process of finding a good solution for this also the whole winkeyfinder code is re writeen in C, so tht it will be more robust and more reliable!

| Re: Product key never input Thank you! I'm wondering about how that DigitalProductID registry field became blank? My only guess is that two years ago I upgraded from an earlier version of Windows to Windows XP. I didn't do a "clean" install, so maybe the upgrade affected that portion of the registry. It's funny because Word and Excel still work fine, but Outlook is having troubles and the "detect and repair" function is refusing to use the original CD. So I figured a reinstall would do the trick, but not without the missing key! I think it was lost during a move to a new home, or else perhaps it's still buried in a box somewhere ... <sigh> Thank you again! Chuck |

| Re: Product key never input Software does not do any key valdiation it is left to the system algo, to decide which is valid and invalid winkey takes all the keys...
