| System Restore on Windows XP / 2003 The System Restore is one the best and most valuable services that Microsoft introduced in its Editions of Windows XP Professional and Windows 2003. This feature allows us to restore system to a point which was said to be "Last known good configuration". You can disable system restore or enable it from registry or by Right click on " My Computers > Properties > System Restore (tab)" From here you can disable or enable system restore. System restore can also be managed from Right click on "My Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services > System Restore". You can disable this to improve performance if you have low disc space and low on RAM. Other wise this is the best option to recover from disaster situation. Use Last Known Good Configuration only in cases of incorrect configuration. It does not solve problems caused by corrupted or missing drivers or files. To start the computer using the last known good configuration:
When you are troubleshooting, it is recommended that you use Last Known Good Configuration before you try other options, such as safe mode. However, even if you decide to use safe mode first, logging on to the computer in safe mode does not update the Last Known Good Configuration. Therefore, using Last Known Good Configuration remains an option if you cannot resolve your problem by using safe mode. Last edited by Dreamer : 08-04-2007 at 07:55 AM. |
